COVID 19 – Repeal Of Orders And Regulations

On the 15th June 2020, Government published the Second Repealing Regulations, 2020 (L.N. 243 of 2020), which will come into force on 30th June 2020. These Regulations follow the first Repealing Regulations, 2020 (L.N. 232 of 2020), which came into force on the 5th June 2020, which repealed the first set of measures intended to phase out the orders and regulations implemented during the pandemic. The Second Repealing Regulations, 2020 will repeal the following orders and regulations:

  1. Closure of Schools Order.
  2. Epidemics and Infectious Disease (Suspension of legal times relating to promise of sale agreements, notarial and related matters) Order.
  3. Epidemics and Infectious Disease (Suspension of Legal and Judicial times) Order.
  4. Suspension of Legal Times relating to Promise of Sale Agreements, Notarial and other related matters (Epidemics and Infectious Disease) Order.
  5. Closure of Schools (Extension of Period of Closure) Order.
  6. Enforcement of the order relating to Suspension of Organised Events Regulations (Any act, decision or action taken before the 30 June 2020 shall remain to be regulated by the Enforcement of the Order Relating to Suspension of Organized Events Regulations, 2020).
  7. Suspension of Organised Events Order.
  8. Number of Persons in Public Spaces Order.
  9. Enforcement of the order relating to the Number of Persons in Public Spaces Regulations (Any act, decision or action taken before the 30 June 2020 shall remain to be regulated by the Enforcement of the Order Relating to the number of persons in public spaces Regulations,2020).
  10. Declaration of a Public Health Emergency Order.

With the repeal of the Public Health Emergency Order, the “public health emergency” effective from 7th March 2020, which empowered the Superintendent of Public Health to take measures necessary in order to reduce, remove or eliminate the threat to public health, will cease.
