Our Firm was pleased to attend the workshop on “Implementing Effective Maritime Sanctions Against China and Russia”, hosted by the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), with the support of the U.S. Department of State.
The workshop brought together industry practitioners and policymakers to examine the evolving maritime sanctions framework, including recent legislative and regulatory developments across the EU, US, and UK. Key themes included enforcement challenges, emerging risks linked to sanctions circumvention, and the increasing complexity of compliance obligations for the private sector.
The sessions also provided practical insights into investigative approaches and best practices for addressing sanctions breaches.
Partner Dr Manfred Galdes and Shipping Executive Mr Joseph Fenech were present, with Dr Galdes delivering a presentation titled “The Maltese Legal Framework for Sanctions Implementation.”
Participation in such discussions forms part of the Firm’s ongoing commitment to staying at the forefront of regulatory developments and supporting clients in navigating an increasingly complex sanctions environment.
